For the next several days I’ll be showing off the state of Maine where I grew up. Right now I’m vacationing here for the Christmas holiday season.
I love the geometry of the pier supports, especially how it contrasts the weathered wood, random barnacles, and seaweed.
During the summer they are alight with tourists and wharf restaurants, but during winter fishing villages like Boothbay Harbor are generally pretty quiet. The cold stillness is somewhat haunting, but also calming.
