7 Standouts: My Most Beautiful, Controversial & Underrated Posts So Far

The Unframed World was recently nominated by Backpack with Brock and Retrospective Traveler for the Tripbase 7 Links Project. This project was created in order to help travel bloggers share 7 of their best articles all in one creative wrap up post. This should be fun, let’s get to it!

My Most Beautiful Post

The Endless Red Gates of Kyoto’s Fushimi Inari
This was a tough call. I almost went with Wide Paths through Grand Bamboo, but decided that the Red Gates of Fushimi Inari post had larger number of compelling images.

My Most Popular Post

National Geographic Internships: Getting In
This article giving real answers to a desperately sought after goal that is somewhat shrouded in mystery. As it turns out, “National Geographic Internship” is also an extremely popular search term.

My Most Controversial Post

Nagasaki: Shamelessly Lovable Animals
It’s debatable whether these animals should’ve been classified as “cute” instead of “lovable.”

My Most Helpful Post

Photo POWER-UP: The Rule of Thirds Delivers Justice
This being a photography web site, this post about the basics of photo composition is a good starting place for anyone looking to take better shots of anything.

Most Surprisingly Successful Post

Tips for Planning Your Weekend Trip
Lori wrote this and neither of us expected it lead the site’s page-view count for two weeks in a row after it was published.

The Post that Didn’t Get the Attention it Deserved

TRIP VID! More than a View: Tour Miyajima
Although I really wanted to say “any TRIP VID! post,” I think this video from Miyajima in particular went overlooked. I put a lot of time into editing videos to tell the trip story while also synching to appropriate music. Everyone should watch them more.

Post I’m Most Proud of

The Finish Line and Beyond of Japan by Bicycle
The conclusion to my 43 day, 3,500km+ cycle tour of Japan which raised over $13,000 of relief aid.

    Controversial post? a little weak!

Hahaha! I didn’t really have much in the way of controversial content so thought I would present an article everyone would at least enjoy while also reminding people what a clever guy I am ;-)

A terrific list indeed. I really like the first photo. There’s a similar structure in Ueno Park in Tokyo, except upon closer inspection its made of plastic. Nice work!

I love the first photo too, it gives you the feeling as if you were walking towards an other world.

That’s sort of the feeling you get when there at the Fushimi Inari in Kyoto!

The first photo is taking my breath away!

Thanks so much for nominating us. We have decided not to particpate in the project, but do appreciate your nomination.
