Shibuya Scramble in Tokyo - Japan Photos

Shibuya Scramble Crossing in Tokyo

Tokyo is an extremely busy and unique city. Here are the best street photos from my day trip downtown while staying with my friend Brad before flying back to the states. Above is a shot of Shibuya Scramble crossing snapped from nearby Shibuya station. The three photos below are from Akihabara, the hub of anime and manga culture in Japan (and probably the whole world) and also the area that yesterday’s detailed figurine shots were taken from.

Tomorrow will feature a video from this trip that I’m getting more and more excited about as it comes together. I hope you tune in and check it out as well.

These shots certainly do convey the Tokyo atmosphere to the viewer very well.

Yes, this place is a mad house. Part of me would love to live here, but then again I also know that I would hate dealing with the daily congestion after about a week.
Have you ever been to Tokyo? Sounds like a place you might enjoy.

I spent a few weeks in Tokyo about twenty years ago, and after that, lived in the Kobe/Osaka area for three years, where I taught English. Would love to visit Japan again and photograph with the digital equipment we all have these days, and I just might get around to doing it.

Cool. I spent 2 years in Kyushu teaching English and photographing everywhere I could. I highly recommend Kansai and Kyushu. Tokyo is good for the busyness and crowds, but otherwise a bit too cramped for my taste.

You can’t really visit Tokyo and not take a photo of Shibuya crossing. The second floor of that Starbucks is really the photographers’ gallery, with lines of tourists waiting to get the perfect shot.

Ya, I took mine from Shibuya station through the re-inforced windows that have the criss-cross pattern in them :-/
