I didn’t know it at the time, but the name of this stunning cathedral is The Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception (Cathedral de la Inmaculada) and it was originally designed to become the largest cathedral in all of South America. Unfortunately, the architect made some structural errors in the foundations and the entire building could not be completed for fear that it might collapse. The construction was started in 1885 and completed in 1974. It is also sometimes called the “New Cathedral”.

What a bad mistake by the architect! It still looks beautiful though :)

Ya. It seems like the foundation would be kind of important to get right.
